It i s not easy to crack and deform. Because of its low density and small shrinkage, its stability is twice that of the most common cork.
The lightest commercial softwood has a density of about 23 pounds per cubic foot at 12% water content in the Western Redwood and 21 pounds per cubic foot after drying.
Low density and high pore structure ensure good sound and heat insulation performance.
